Frederic Neyrat

Frederic Neyrat is a French philosopher, born in 1968. Teaching philosophy in High-School. Former Program Director at the College International de Philosophie (2001-2007). Member of the editorial board of the journal Multitudes. During 2008-09, he was in residence at the Society for the Humanities, Cornell University.

He has published books on political imaginary (Fantasme de la communauté absolue, 2002) ; the function of the images (L’image hors-l’image, 2003) ; globalization (Surexposés, 2005) ; Heidegger (L’indemne. Heidegger et la destruction du monde, 2008) ; the relations between eco-politics, immuno-politics and bio-politics (Biopolitique des catastrophes, 2008) ; Artaud (Instructions pour une prise d’âmes. Artaud et l’envoûtement occidental).

Three forecoming books in 2011 : Conjurations. Essai sur les sociétés de clairvoyance (éditions Lignes), Le terrorisme. Un concept piégé (éditions eRe) and Clinamen. Flux, absolu et loi spirale (éditions eRe).

Main research : the relation between negativity, destruction and the logics of the unscathed.

More and more interested in the question and the practice of the imaginary. Not as an alternative to the World, but to a lack of World. In this purpose, he has created an informal group : l’ELPh (Etudes sur la Loi des Phores).
