Allan Siegel

Filmmaker, visual media artist, writer and teacher. Involved in the experimental filmmaking movement and one of the founding members of the documentary film collective Newsreel in New York City. Film work presented at major international film festivals; exhibitions in New York, Chicago, London, Montreal, Pécs and Budapest. Former Adj. Assoc. Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; since 2001 lecturer in the Intermedia Department at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Budapest.

Co-curator In Between: displaced harmonies / dissonant states, Pécs (2010); curator Expiration date: to be determined, Ernst Museum, Budapest (2004). Writings include: Budapest Market Halls in European market halls: a comparative view (Museu d'Història de Barcelona, 2010); Counter Culture in the Age of Digital Revolution (Politics and Culture, 2008); After the 60's: changing paradigms in the representation of urban space in Screening the City (Verso, 2003) and Co-editor, ARTMargins.
