La clase política, la izquierda, parece haber alcanzado, terminada la larga marcha durante la cual se creó la ilusión del Estado de bienestar, su meta, su paraíso, su tierra prometida: la integración en el Estado capitalista, El Estado hegeliano u orwelliano, siempre el Estado, como meta final al que las izquierdas, como el hijo pródigo, vuelve de rodillas en actitud de adoración. El Estado, representación del patriarcado freudiano, al que, atrapada en un sentimiento de culpa por haber sido, en otros tiempos, revolucionaria, vuelven las izquierdas renunciando a la revolución. En este panorama estepario se encuentran atrapadas las contradicciones, antaño dialécticas y por tanto antagónicas, de las clases sociales.

I'll be brief and almost telegraphic, because I have many things to say and little time.

1. Let's have a look at the landscape at the end of the year 2010. The Obama hope has dissolved, and the European crisis has broken out. A new Logic has been installed at the heart of the European life, since the financial crisis of Greece: Angela Merkel, Nicholas Sarkozy and Jean-Claude Trichet resolved that European society has to sacrifice its current levels of life, public school system, its civility, in order to pay the debts accumulated by the financial elite.

1. Uno sguardo al panorama alla fine del primo decennio. La speranza Obama si dissolve, e scoppia la crisi europea. Una nuova logica si istalla al cuore della vita europea, a partire dalla crisi finanziaria greca: Merkel Sarkozy e Trichet hanno deciso che la società europea deve sacrificare il suo attuale livello di vita, il sistema della scuola pubblica, la sua civiltà, per poter pagare i debiti accumulati dall’elite finanziaria.

The following essay is a short look at the Hannah Barry Gallery, a South London based commercial gallery founded in 2007 by the eponymous Hannah Barry and Sven Münder, as a rudimentary case study of the many small arts organisations continually emerging throughout the capital. The gallery currently exhibits at its main space on Copeland Road, Peckham and on the top two floors of the nearby multi-storey car park, however the origins of the Hannah Barry Gallery begin at an artists squat both named and located at 78 Lyndhurst Way, also in Peckham.
